Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media analyst for more than twenty years. She's also a seasoned public speaking. She founded Feminist Frequency which provides commentary and videos on depictions of women's roles in popular cultural. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as blogger. Feminist Frequency is an educational site for non-profit organizations that examines female representations in the popular media narratives. As well as working to highlight the problems surrounding the harassment and targeted assaults on women and other minorities in online spaces she is dedicated to breaking down stereotypes that are in the popular culture. Sarkeesian who has the degree of Master's in the field of Social and Political Thinking at York University, is a sought after public speaking. She has delivered speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. She has been interested in gender issues and feminism since a young age. In 2009, when she was still studying at university she launched the Feminist Frequency site. She had a plan to start a web-based series on the gender roles in video games and found herself the target of an online harassment campaign. The woman was not stopped by the assault, actually, it just reinforced her desire to become an expert on media and feminism. Many awards have been presented to her in recognition of all the contributions that she contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and founded Feminist Frequency. The educational non-profit explores the role of women in pop culture narratives.
